“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1.
When I got home this afternoon from running errands, I had a lot of things to unload from my car. I tried to carry as much as I could to minimize the trips back and forth to my vehicle. However, my hands were too full, and it was impossible to reach into my pocket to access the keys to my home. I had to put some things down on the porch before I could free up my hands to unlock the door.
Many times in our lives we are carrying such a big load that it keeps us from entering into God’s presence. Our lives can be so cluttered with activities that sometimes it’s difficult to hear what God is saying. We need to put down the things that hold us back from enjoying God’s “best” for our lives.
It’s time to take an inventory of our lives and begin to lose the things that keep us from fulfilling His purpose. Lose the hurts, the pains, the failures, the fear, the anger; and yes, even the pounds that keep us from being healthy and energetic.
If we want the Lord to utilize us in a greater way this year; if we want God’s plan and purpose to be manifested in our lives in 2016, then we need to lose to be used.
